NEED A LAWYER? TRY A WOMAN! Click and "Find A Woman Lawyer" Today At long last (or maybe you didn’t even know you were waiting for it) the online directory is here. Potential clients, other attorneys, judges, journalists, and tons of others can now found you, a woman lawyer, on line. Just got to the side-bar above and to the left on your screen and select “Find a Woman Lawyer”. Not only does the directory work well, it looks good. The directory offers four searching parameters: Last Name, Practice Area, Location & Committee Membership—combine one or more of the parameters to narrow your search. Be sure to hit the enter button on the page and not the enter button on your keyboard. Looking for another attorney to help you with your clients’ personal injury issues? Not a problem, selecting from the practice area pull down menu is a snap and gets you to the right woman for the job. Too many choices in that practice area? Narrow it down by location to get exactly what you’re looking for. Need an email address for the lawyer you met at the last WLA function? Simple as pie, just type in her last name and get all her contact info. As an added bonus, you can search the directory for members of WLA’s various committees Best of all, it’s affordable: a one time fee of $10.00 gets you on the information superhighway as long as your WLA dues remain current. If you are already a member of WLA, click here for an application for the directory only and send it in. If you have already enrolled in the online directory, please go and check your listing today. If it is incorrect, email us at wla@wlastl.org and we'll fix it right away. An online directory of women lawyers? What more can a girl ask for?
WLA STATEWIDE WORKPLACE SURVEY The raw results are in! Thanks so much to the 541 women out there who responded to the survey and worked hard to provide invaluable information about their employment conditions and experiences. We will use the survey to identify policies and practices that help or hinder women lawyers in the workplace. Right now WLA is still working hard to put the results together. We plan to informally present the results to the women lawyers at the big firms in the fall and to formally present the results during a forum in the spring. Check out September's newsletter for a sneak peak at the results. Thanks also to Megan Phillips for putting the survey together. Click Here for a snapshot of the results. Click Here for a copy of the Gail Appleson's 6/23/06 Post-Dispatch article about the survey results.
